"The test will be done scientifically and as per international standard."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - It will take at least two weeks to identify the passengers of the crashed Sukhoi Superjet 100, because of a Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) test.
"The DNA test process might take at least two weeks' time," said Anton Castilani, Indonesian Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Chief Police Commissioner at Halim Perdanakusumah airport in Jakarta on Friday.
"DVI will return the bodies to the victims' families after conducting the DNA test that will compare the victims' DNA with their family members'," he added.
According to Anton, DVI must conduct the DNA test to ensure that no mistakes are made while delivering the bodies.
"The test will be done scientifically and as per international standards, by analysing every bit of the victim`s body parts before delivering it to the right family," he said.
Debris of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft that lost contact during a demonstration flight at the top of Mount Salak, West Java, on Wednesday (May 9), has been found in the village of Cipelang, in Cijeruk sub-district, Bogor.
"More debris from the plane has been found in Cipelang village than what was previously discovered in Cidahu, Sukabumi district," said Asep Safrijal, a Cijeruk security staff member at the evacuation post.
He added the plane's fragments were found at Kampung Loji in Cipelang at around 12.00 p.m.
According to Asep, the National Search and Rescue Agency team and other evacuation teams have deployed their personnel at Cipelang, making the village's soccer field an evacuation command post.
However, most of the aircraft's debris is on a Mount Salak cliff.
