"The cooperation will be between the responsible authorities of both countries."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia and Russia are working together to find out the cause of the crash of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 commercial plane on Mount Salak, Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday.
"The Russian government will assist in investigating the cause of the accident, finding bodies of the victims, and conducting interrogations," Russian ambassador to Indonesia Alexander Ivanov said at Halim Perdanakusuma airport here on Friday.
"Russian President Vladimir Putin also made a request to cooperate in the investigation of the incident when he called President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to offer his deep condolences to the families of the victims," he added.
"The cooperation will be between the responsible authorities of both countries," Ivanov stated.
He said he hoped relations between the two countries could be further strengthened and increased cooperation be established.
"Russia has sent a team to Indonesia, led by the deputy minister of trade and it has started working," Ivanow explained.
Meanwhile, Indonesian minister of transportation EE Mangindaan said he hoped the Russians carried out the investigation properly.
"The Russian team must really conduct the investigation and do it transparently to make the case clear. There must be no cover-ups," he added.
