Jakarta (ANTARA News) - US Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs Dr. Kerri-Ann Jones traveled to Indonesia in support of the U.S.-Indonesia Comprehensive Partnership and expanding bilateral science and technology cooperation.

She also co-chaired the U.S.-Indonesia Science and Technology First Joint Commission Meeting, the US embassy in Jakarta said in a statement here Wednesday.

Her Indonesia co-chair was Deputy Minister Amin Soebandrio, representing Indonesia`s research and technology agency RISTEK.

In addition to participating in the Joint Commission Meeting, Assistant Secretary Jones visited the Budi Kemulian Hospital to view progress on the $55 million "EMAS" program, observed U.S.-donated TB diagnostic systems in use at the University of Indonesia, met with Indonesian government counterparts, and participated in a panel discussion with Indonesian high-tech entrepreneurs on innovation.

This was Assistant Secretary Jones` third trip to Indonesia.
