"Now, the floodwaters have started to recede."Medan, North Sumatra (ANTARA News) - Hundreds of houses have been flooded in Medan Maimun sub-district, North Sumatra, since Wednesday evening after the Deli River overflowed due to incessant heavy rains.
"The flood-affected areas are Aur, Sei Mati, Sukaraja, and Hamdan," said Hanna Lore Simanjuntak, the head of the Medan disaster mitigation office, here on Thursday.
In the Aur urban village, the flood waters reached a height of about 1.2 metres.
"Now, the floodwaters have started to recede," Hanna said.
The local authorities provided food relief for the flood`s victims.
