"We will see how far their involvement is."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Jakarta police are investigating customs officers of the city`s Tanjung Priok port in connection with 351 kilogram meth smuggling attempt through the port.
"The name of one of the officers is Budi Sulistyo who is in charge of scrutinizing documents," Jakarta Metropolitan Police spokesman Senior Commissioner Rikwanto said here on Monday.
He said the police would also question two other customs officers and an officer from the port`s Class II Fish Quarantine Center.
They are Tri Baroto, who is also in charge of checking documents, Joy, in charge of checking goods and Hende, a quarantine officer, who has issued the manifest, he said.
He said the police investigators would question them in turn everyday. "We will see how far their involvement is," he said.
The Jakarta Metropolitan Policed had foiled an attempt to smuggle 351 kilograms of methamphetamine and arrested five suspects known by their initials as AK, DR, MW alias A and EWH alias J, a Malaysian national, and Ptr, the importer, from several locations in Jakarta recently.
The illegal narcotic drug which is worth Rp720 billion and consumable by 35 million people will be distributed to several big cities in Indonesia such as Jakarta, Medan, Bandung, Surabaya and Manado.
One of the suspects has confessed smuggling the meth from China through Malaysia and the Tanjung Priok container port in North Jakarta.
