"I cannot say with certainty how much they will get as insurance."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - First Vice President of the CJSC Sukhoi Civil Aircraft, Igor L Vinogradov, declared in a written statement that the insurance payment provided to the family of each victim of the accident will be Rp1.25 billion.

The statement clarified the variety of interpretations regarding the insurance payment that will be given to the families of those who died in the Sukhoi crash which occurred on May 9 at Mount Salak, Bogor, West Java.

Earlier, the consultant of Sukhoi distributor PT Trimarga Rekatama, Sunaryo, had stated that the amount of insurance to be received by the families was not yet known.

"I cannot say with certainty how much they will get as insurance, because there was no prior agreement," Sunaryo remarked here on Thursday.

Sunaryo added that the insurance claims were handled by lawyers from Sukhoi and Indonesia, not by PT Trimarga, according to the rule of law, under which a company is not allowed to regulate insurance issues.

Initially, Sukhoi had planned to provide an insurance payment of US$50,000 dollars - or about Rp460 million - to each victim. However, according to the Transportation Minister, victims of a commercial passenger plane crash are entitled to an insurance payment of Rp1.25 billion.

The Russian-made SSJ-100 crashed into Mount Salak on May 9, 2012, and all 45 passengers on board the plane were killed in the accident.
