Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Maya Soetoro-Ng, President Charles Morrison, and Terance Bigalke, all from the East-West Center at the University of Hawaii, visited Indonesia to promote educational and cultural exchange opportunities between the United States and Indonesia, according to the website of the US Embassy here on Wednesday.

On June 5, U.S. Ambassador Scot Marciel hosted Soetoro-Ng and other visitors at a dinner reception with prominent business people, lawmakers, and artists.

The East-West Center plays an important role in encouraging education cooperation, which is a top priority for the U.S. Mission in Indonesia.

Since the Center`s establishment, almost 3,000 East-West Center awards have been given to Indonesian scholars, research specialists, students, and professionals.

Currently, the Center has nine fellowships available for Indonesian scholars.
