"This will be the second time for Indonesia to host the meeting since 1994," the deputy chairman of the event`s organizing committee, Saleh Iskak said on the sidelines of the World Gas Conference (WGC) here on Thursday.
As one of Gasex`s founders, Indonesia expected the Bali meeting would create opportunities to establish close cooperation in developing gas industry in the Asia Pacific region, he said.
A number of speakers including those from the Japan Gas Association, the China Gas and the International Gas Union had confirmed a plan to attend the forum, he said.
He said Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Jero Wacik had proposed a meeting of ministers from Gasex member states at the forum.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is expected to open the Gasex 2012 due to take place at the Bali International Convention Center on October 9-11.
"We hope 700 to 800 participants will attend the event," he said.
The other Gasex members include Australia, Brunei, China, Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Korea and Vietnam. (*)
