Kabul (ANTARA News/Xinhua-OANA) - Two leaders of a terrorist group that organized a deadly suicide attack in Afghan capital Kabul in December have been arrested, spokesman for the National Directorate for Security (NDS) or intelligence agency said Tuesday.

"Two ring leaders of terrorists who organized a deadly suicide attack on the mourners inside a shrine in Kabul in December 2011 have been detained,"Lutfullah Mashal told reporters at a press conference.

In the deadly attack on Dec. 6, 2011 on Shiite mourners, 80 people including women and children were killed and more than 150 other were injured.

In a footage displayed at the press conference, one of the arrested men, while admitting his involvement in planning the deadly suicide attack on the shrine and denouncing it as a crime, requested pardon from the government.

Afghanistan`s Attorney General Mohammad Ishaq Alko said both the arrested men might be awarded capital punishment. (*)
