Bandung, W Java (ANTARA News) - A 172 Cessna Skyhawk of the Aero Flyer Institute crashed in Sukadana village, Ciawigebang Sub District, Kuningan District, West Java, on Monday, killing its pilot, police said.

"The ill-fated Cessna Skyhawk belongs to the Aero Flyer Institute. Its pilot was killed and two other flight students were seriously injured," Spokesman of West Java Police Senior Commissioner Martinus Sitompul said when contacted here on Monday.

The dead victim is pilot Captain Heru, and two flight students who were seriously injured are Rara and Fitri.

All victims have been taken to the Kuningan Hospital. Martinus said that based on the report he had received, the plane with registration number PK-HAL took off Cirebon airbase at 1.35 pm with three people on board, namely the pilot and the two flight students.

The Cirebon air tower lost contact with the airplane at 3.15 pm. At that time the ill-fated aircraft was estimated to have reached the Kuningan area.

The tower officials contacted security officers in Kuningan and informed them that they had lost contact with the aircraft.

Martinus said that the plane was discovered with its pilot and passengers at 5.50 pm in Sukadana village, Ciawigebang Sub District, Kuningan District.

The victims were soon rushed to the nearest hospital.

"Police and military command of Kuningan immediately deploy their personnel to search and evacuate the victims. The crashed Cessna is a civil trainer aircraft. It did not cause casualties to the local people," the police spokesman said.(*)
