"The local government has provided the poor communities with Jamkesda."
Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA News) - Kupang Mayor Daniel Adoe has called on the local community to use the regional health-care facility (Jamkesda) provided by the local government.

"The government has offered the regional health-care facility to the poor communities and I hope they will make proper use of it for the sake of their health," he said here on Friday.

Daniel explained that the Kupang city administration had developed the Jamkesda policy to provide local communities, especially the poor, with health-care facilities.

He said the main objective of the policy was to ensure equal health-care opportunities for all communities in the region, including the poor.

"To get equal, easy, and inexpensive health services is the right of all people in Kupang and, therefore, the local government has provided the poor communities with Jamkesda," Daniel stated.

He noted that 107,000 people in Kupang, out of the provincial capital`s total population of 349,344, were already covered by Jamkesda.
