Visiting U.S. Deputy Secretary of State William Burns delivered the invitation to Morsi at a meeting on Sunday afternoon, official MENA news agency reported.
Morsi is invited to visit the U.S. when he attends the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly in September.
Burns told reporters his talks with Morsi was "constructive". He conveyed the message of Obama who asserted the U.S. strong commitment to building a new partnership with Egypt based the principles of joint interests and mutual respect.
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is scheduled to visit Egypt in mid-July. (*)
