Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The decision of Bank Indonesia (the central bank) to raise the minimum down-payment requirement for motorcycles to 30 percent of the sales price, effective as of June 15, 2012, has led to lower motorcycle sales in June, according to the motorcycle industry association head.

"The hike has led to a drop in the sales of all types of motorcycles, with total sales in June dropping to 550,468 units, compared with the 619,540 units sold in May," said Gunadi Sindhuwinata, the chairman of the Indonesian Motor Cycles Industry Association (AISI), here on Monday.

He added that Honda continued to be the market leader in the country, with sales of 332,272 units in June, compared with 362,127 units in May.
