I can ring up Telkom`s board of directors, but I have to summon them to explain to me in detail how the satellite got lost," Dahlan said.Jakarta (ANTARA News) - State Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan will soon hold a meeting with PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia`s board of directors to discuss the loss of Telkom-3 satellite.
The Telkom-3 satellite, which belonged to publicly listed Indonesian telecommunication services company Telkom, was reported to have been lost a few hours after its launch from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on Tuesday.
"I have actually been informed about the loss of the satellite. I can ring up Telkom`s board of directors, but I have to summon them to explain to me in detail how the satellite got lost," Dahlan said here on Wednesday.
The minister acknowledged that he knew nothing about the satellite from the time it was developed, to its launch.
"I am not a satellite expert, so I want to know the chronology of events that led to its loss," he stated.
The Telkom-3 satellite was launched atop a Russian-made Proton-M rocket, which was scheduled to reach the Briz-M upper stage on Tuesday at 11.44 am.
Meanwhile, Russian Federal Space Agency Roscosmos said it was still uncertain about the location of the satellite.
"However, the failure of Telkom-3 satellite launch will not negatively affect the services and performance of PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia," Dahlan said.(*)
