"I am ready to undergo questioning and my strategy to deal with OC Kaligis is only `bismillah` (in the name of God)," Denny said.Makassar, South Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - Vice Minister of Justice and Human Rights Denny Indrayana has said he is prepared to face a lawsuit from senior lawyer OC Kaligis in view of his recent statement that was considered to be offensive to lawyers.
"I am ready to undergo questioning and my strategy to deal with OC Kaligis is only `bismillah` (in the name of God)," he told the press here on Tuesday.
Denny was in Makassar to oversee the process of recruitment of civil servants for his office.
On the sidelines of supervising the recruitment test at Andi Matalatta Stadium, the deputy minister said he had already issued a clarification on Twitter with regard to his statement about corrupt lawyers.
"I have tried to provide clarification and have explained what I really meant, through 24 tweets, but some are still generalizing it," he added.
"Some of them, without even reading my clarification, kept saying that my statement had humiliated lawyers. That was the last time I apologized to lawyers who were clean, as part of my consistent efforts to ensure that my statement was not misinterpreted," Denny explained.
He had earlier stated that lawyers who followed the principle of "ends justify the means" manipulated evidence and were defenders of corruption.
"Those who criticized it are part of it. I tweeted it to represent the majority`s feeling. For that, I am ready to undergo further questioning at the court," Denny said.
OC Kaligis has filed a police complaint against Denny for the vice minister's controversial statement.
Denny was reported to the police for allegedly violating Article 310, 311 and 315 of the Criminal Code, along with Article 22 of Law No 11 of 2008 on ITE (Electronic Information and Transactions).(*)
