Chatib said investment and business opportunities were still wide open in Mongolia as trade between the two countries was still small.
Ulan Bator (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono attended a meeting between Indonesian and Mongolian businessmen here on Thursday.

He was flanked by Industry Minister MS Hidayat,Ttourism and Creative Economy Mari Elka Pangestu, Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa, the Chairman of the Association of Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs (Hipmi), Raja Sapta Oktohari and other government officials.

The Chairman of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Chatib Basri, at the meeting attended by dozens of Mongolian businessmen said the meeting could bridge relations between the two countries` businessmen to explore business opportunities.

"This morning a memorandum of understanding was signed by BKPM and the government of Mongolia through which investment cooperation and investment opportunities would be promoted," he said.

Chatib said investment and business opportunities were still wide open in Mongolia as trade between the two countries was still small.

In view of that he called on businesses to continue to exchange information with regard to finding opportunities to increase trade between the two countries and also cooperation in the field of economy.

"Indonesian businessmen must exploit foreign markets including Mongolia. My hope is cooperation between the two countries could be continuously increased. I hope our participation this time could help push for the success of economic cooperation between the two sides," he said.

In the meeting President Yudhoyono appealed to Indonesia as well as Mongolian businessmen to continue increasing their cooperation in line with the programs initiated by the two countries.

"This morning I met with President Tsakhia Elbergdorj and we agreed to take steps to increase trade cooperation. I hope you will also do the same," he said.

After attending the meeting President Yudhoyono and First Lady Ani Yudhoyono would attend a state dinner held by President Taskhia Elbergdorj at 8pm local time.(*)
