The products of sitting closets, which are not up to SNI have to be withdrawn from the market to be destroyed by the producers concerned, Industry Minister M.S Hidayat said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Industry Ministry said it will slap the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) on sitting closets to be effective in January next year to protect the consumers and create a healthy and fair competition among producers.

The standard for sitting closets has been determined in a regulation of the industry minister No. 83/M-IND/KEP/8/2012.

Under the regulation all sitting closets both imported or local products are required to meet the SNI, Industry Minister M.S Hidayat said here on Thursday.

The products of sitting closets, which are not up to SNI have to be withdrawn from the market to be destroyed by the producers concerned, Hidayat said.

Imported products of sitting closets not meeting SNI have to be re-exported or destroyed by the importers, he added.

The SNI for sitting closets is SNI 03-0797-2006 with Harmonized System (HS) No. ex. 6910.10.00.00, he said.

Under the regulation, the producers of sitting closets are required to have the SNI mark on the packaging of their products on a spot easily seen and read.

Hidayat said the producers also are required to give the date, month and year of production of the sitting closets written on the packaging on a spot easily seen and read.(*)
