"We have received many orders, therefore, the factory with machines already 30 years in age needs replacement," Rakhendi Triyatna, the company`s chief spokesman said.Bandung (ANTARA News) - State-owned aircraft maker PT Dirgantara Indonesia (DI) said it has purchased new machines to modernize its aircraft factory.
Revitalization of the factory is needed for efficiency to meet growing orders lately, Rakhendi Triyatna, the company`s chief spokesman said.
"We have received many orders, therefore, the factory with machines already 30 years in age needs replacement," Rakhendi said here on Wednesday.
In addition, it is time for PT.DI to launch its program of restructuring and revitalization to maintain high efficiency, Rakhendi said.
Revitalization includes preparations of skilled workers and procurement of new machines for greater efficiency in the process of production, he addes.
Eight units of the high technology machines have been installed and in operation and five more units are to come from Germany, Italy and Taiwan, he said.
The machines are CNC (Computerized Numerical Control) units including Quaser MV 18C, Haas VF6-50, Haas VR 11 B Deckel Maho DMU 100 mB and Gantry Jobs LINX30 and Gantry Matec 30 P.
Rakhendi said with the CNC machines PT.DI could produce components including single and detail parts for own use and for supply to European Airbus, US Boeing and Canadian Bombardier.
He said PT.DI is the sole supplier of certain body parts of A380, a double-decker aircraft and the world`s largest aircraft.
He said currently PT.DI has more than 100 units of CNC and TNC machines.
He said PT.DI is preparing the construction of an assembling plant for CN295 aircraft as advanced product of CN235 by Spain`s Airbus Military.
The fuselage of CN295 plane would be three meters longer than that of CN235 with stronger landing gear and greater engine power.
PT.DI will continue to promote its aircraft products of CN235, CN295, and NC212-400 as well as N219, now in the phase of designing to meet competition especially in Asia Pacific market, Rakhendi said. (*)
