"President Yudhoyono will participate in the 67th Session of the UN General Assembly and deliver a speech on the first day of the General Assembly debate," Presidential special aide for international relations Teuku Faizasyah said.Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and First Lady Ani Yudhoyono will leave for New York, the United States, this weekend on a working visit until September 30.
Presidential special aide for international relations Teuku Faizasyah told the press here on Friday that the head of state was scheduled to attend the opening of the 67th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
"President Yudhoyono will participate in the 67th Session of the UN General Assembly and deliver a speech on the first day of the General Assembly debate," he said.
The President is also scheduled to attend a meeting that will discuss post-2015 Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). He will co-chair the meeting with British Prime Minister David Cameron and Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
The three leaders will for the first time meet with all the 23 members of the High Level Panel (HLP) of Eminent Persons, which was set up by the United Nations.
"In his capacity as the HLP co-chair, President Yudhoyono will receive the president of the Ford Foundation in order to gather support for the stakeholders and for the success of the panel," Teuku said.
The 67th session of the UN General Assembly and the HLP will be held on September 25.
On September 24, the President is expected to deliver a speech at an investment forum at the New York Stock Exchange.
"President Yudhoyono will also attend a forum at the New York Stock Exchange. In this event, he will deliver a speech on the rise of Indonesia as Asia`s new economic powerhouse," Teuku stated.
The President will also hold meetings with prominent US business persons such as the CEO of IBM, the CEO of Honeywell, the CEO of Cargill and the CEO of Millennium Challenge Corporation in an effort to increase US investment in Indonesia.
He will also hold separate bilateral meetings with a number of political leaders such as Egyptian President Mohamed Morsy, Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev, President of Finland Sauli Niisito, the President of the UN General Assembly, Vuk Jeremi', German President Joachim Gauck, and Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti.
In New York, President Yudhoyono will receive two awards, "Valuing Nature Awards for Leadership in the Coral Triangle Initiative" (from The Nature Conservancy, WRI and WWF) and "USABC 21st Century Economic Achievement" (from the US-ASEAN Business Council).
The awards will be presented at an event entitled "Towards Environmental and Economic Sustainability".
Besides, at the launch of Journal Strategic Review, President Yudhoyono will deliver a keynote speech and receive a medal from the Foreign Policy Association for his contribution to global peace and development.(*)
