"Obviously they belonged to old networks of terrorists."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The National Police chief Gen.Timur Pradopo confirmed police arrested eight suspected terrorists in Solo and nearby areas today.
From early this morning at 01.00 until 11.00 local time, the police`s Anti Terrorist Squad known as Densus 88, succeeded in arresting 8 suspected terrorists in the Central Java city, Timur Pradopo said.
There was almost no resistance, he said, adding "no shot was fired."
Intensive investigations were held of the suspects as well as of the areas where they had been caught, he said.
Police found explosives in their hiding places, he said, adding five types of the explosives were ready for explosion, that police had to set off two of them on the spot.
"Obviously they belonged to old networks of terrorists," he said.
Solo, known to be one of the most peaceful cities in the country, has lately become a terrorist operational area.
Last night arrest by police was the fourth terrorist related incidents in Solo in less than two months with a police officer shot dead by terrorists and two terrorists killed in a shootout in following encounter.
