Electric tariff hike not to burden low income consumers

The tariff will be raised only for consumers using 1,300 VA and higher.

Sukabumi (ANTARA News) - State electric company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara said the planned increase in electric tariff would not add to the burden of low income consumers.

The tariff will be raised only for consumers using 1,300 VA and higher, Dedi Kuswandi, the spokesman of the Sukabumi unit of PLN said.

Most low and middle income households use electric energy with capacity from 450 to 900 VA, Dedi said here on Monday.

He said the people should have no concern about the tariff increase as it is aimed at accelerating the country`s economic growth and to increase electrification ratio.

In addition it is to be effective only next year, he added.
