"We found a resolution to the Aceh conflict after one decade of armed struggle."
New York (ANTARA News) - Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono emphasized that development process of a nation could not work well without guarantees on security and peace in the nation, during a high-level panel meeting of the UN General Assembly.

All processes and plans on development would be fruitless if both, security and peace come under threat in a nation.

"In the context of the UN High Level Panel of Eminent Person on the Post 2015 Development Agenda, both leader and panel members agree that peace, security and development are related one to another," President Yudhoyono said.

Yudhoyono, on Wednesday (Sept 26), reaffirmed that creating peaceful and secure conditions in the international community could allow all countries similar opportunities to conduct nation building for people`s welfare.

Indonesia highlighted the importance of global collaboration and cooperation between developed and developing countries, which would ensure that countries would not be facing such challenges in isolation.

"Peace-making is very important for a country to strengthen and consolidate a serene condition because it can encourage the potency of economic and national development. The role of the international community is to boost peace for unstable countries. Suitable systems in the United Nations, international finance institutions and assistance for such countries can create peaceful conditions in the world," he said.

Yudhoyono observed that the international community should help in peaceful conflict resolutions in affected regions.

"The support from the international community needs cooperation from and coordination with all relevant actors in the conflict country, as well as accountable and transparent processes. As an example, we found a resolution to the Aceh conflict after one decade of armed struggle," Yudhoyono said.

The UN High Level Panel of Eminent Person on the Post 2015 Development Agenda was also attended by Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai and Timor Leste Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao.
