Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian currency rupiah gained slightly on Monday against the US dollar in a quite trade.

In inter-bank transactions, Rupiah traded at 9,582 to the dollar strengthening from the level of 9,590 earlier.

The currency gained although market players chose a wait and see position on the release of US unemployment data, analysts said.

Trust Securities` analyst Reza Priyambada said the market players responded positively to European Central Bank (ECB) maintaining the interest rate and reactivation of program to buy bonds issued by Euro zone countries.

"However, the positive sentiment was weakened by a comment by Bank of Japan which failed to announce additional monetary relaxation," Reza said.

Meanwhile, Ariston Tjendra , financial market analyst from Investindo Futures, said rupiah appreciation against the dollar continued following cut in US unemployment rate to a lowest level since 2009.

Rupiah also strengthen with a comment by ECB saying it would be ready to buy bonds issued by ailing economies in the euro zone such as Spain.(*)
