The three journalists, namely Didik Herwanto of Riau Pos Daily, Rian FB Anggoro from the ANTARA News Agency and Robby Fahrianto of Riau TV, were questioned after they reported to have been subjected to violence on Tuesday (October 16) while covering the crash of the TNI AU`s Hawk 200 fighter jet in Pasir Putih, Kampar in the Riau Province.
They previously reported the violence to the POM of Air Force at the Office of Military Police Unit at the Roesmin Nurjadi Air base.
Their letter of complaint has been assigned the number POM-434/A/IDIK-01/X/2012/Rsn.
An official report was filed separately on Tuesday. The focus was on the severe persecution allegedly conducted by Lt. Col. Robert Simanjuntak, who is posted at the Roesmin Nurjadin Air base, along with some members of Battalion 462 Paskhas.
Herwanto alleged that he was subjected to persecution by the soldiers who were on guard around the crash site of the Hawk 200 aircraft owned by the Air Force.
Anggoro and Fahrianto also alleged that there was violent conduct by the soldiers stationed at the crash site.
The submission of the BAP of the three journalists in the POM TNI AU Pekanbaru was covered by dozens of media crews.
Various members of the local and national media have also held protests at two locations in Pekanbaru, demanding a comprehensive investigation into the allegations of violence against the three journalists by the personnel of the Air Force.
Lawmakers have said that they are willing to accommodate the demands of the journalists immediately by calling for several of TNI AU`s officers who were allegedly involved in the violence.(*)
