Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia handed the chairmanship of the ASEAN Committee on Women (ACW) to Laos at the committee`s meeting held in Vientiane recently, Woman Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Linda Amalia Sari Gumelar said.

The meeting discussed how to improve gender perspective and partnership in environmental conservation efforts, she said in a press statement released on Sunday.

The minister said at the meeting the Indonesian delegation spoke of success achieved during its chairmanship.

"At the meeting Indonesia presented its success in launching ACW action plan for the 2011-2015 period. The action plan is related to efforts to conserve the environment, narrow gender disparities at work place and social activities, lower poverty rate, promote women`s role and improve capacity building for women," she said.

The action plan had been adapted in making each policy, she said. (S012/O001)
