Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia`s National Committee for Palestinian People (KNRP) has sent 21 volunteers and aid worth US$100,000 under the program "Sacrifice for Palestine" to Gaza.

The volunteers left Jakarta on Saturday and were seen off by KNRP Secretary General Caca Cahayaningrat, according to a press statement of the committee.

The aid comprised cash worth US$40,000 and meat from 200 sacrificed goats and cows worth US$60,000.

Cahayaningrat said that the presence of Indonesian volunteers in Gaza demonstrates the Indonesian people`s care for the Palestinian people.

"During Indonesia`s struggle for freedom, it had been supported by Palestinian muftis who had urged Islamic countries in the Middle East to recognize Indonesia`s dependence," she said.

She added that the KNRP supports Palestine`s struggle for independence because it is in line with Indonesia`s constitution which is against colonialism and for world peace.

The volunteers also include members of Nasyid Izzatul Islam who will perform in a humanitarian concert upon arrival in Egypt on October 21, prior to entering Gaza via Rafah border on October 24.
