"The carcass of the whale was found at about 10 am."
Cilacap, Central Java (ANTARA News) - A dead whale, estimated to measure approximately 10 metres long, washed ashore in Sidayu Indah beach, Binangun sub-district, here on Thursday.

"The carcass of the whale was found at about 10 am," said 32-year-old Iqbalul Murid, a local coast guard.

Meanwhile, Sidayu village resident Sadiran, 38, stated that that he had cut the fins of the decomposed whale to use them as decoration in his house.

"It is impossible to sell the decomposed fins, so I will use them to decorate my house," he explained.

Another resident of the same village, 40-year-old Mukhlisudin, said the whale's carcass would soon be buried because it was giving out a foul odour.

"Such things have been happening for several years," he added.
