Jakarta (ANTARA News) - PT Astra International Tbk.(ASII) booked a net profit of Rp14.7 trillion until the third quarter this year, up from Rp13.4 trillion in the same period last year, president director Prijono Sugiarto said.

"The good performance has been made due to increasing car sales," he said in a press statement here on Wednesday.

He admitted that the decline in demand in the heavy-duty equipment sector that reflected the declining prices of coal and palm oil had affected the company`s profit.

"Although our business prospects remained good, Astra Group remains expecting good achievement this year while the drop in the price of commodities could affect the company`s future performance," he said.

PT Astra International`s net revenue in the first nine months of this year reached Rp143.1 trillion up by 20 percent from the same period last year.

Net profit per share has also increased by nine percent to Rp362. The net value of Astra assets was worth Rp1,643 per share by September 20, 2012, up by 10 percent compared to the same period last year.

"Astra Group activities have been focused on six business lines, namely automotive, financial, heavy equipment, mining, agricultural business, infrastructure, logistics and information technology," Prijono said.(*)
