Rupiah fell as investors restrained from going to the market ahead of the US presidential election
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian currency rupiah lost 10 points against the US dollar on Tuesday as investors to invest in save haven ahead of the US election.

Rupiah traded at 9,615 to the US dollar in inter-bank transactions weakening from the level of 9,605 earlier.

"Rupiah fell as investors restrained from going to the market ahead of the US presidential election," Monex Investindo Futures`s researcher Ariston Tjendra said here on Tuesday.

Amid uncertainties over the result of the US elections with support almost level between incumbent President Barack Obama and his contender Mitt Romney, prompted investors to chose the safe haven US dollar, Ariston said.

Meanwhile, Bank Himpunan Saudara`s market analyst Rully Nova said rupiah tended to decline but Bank Indonesia would not let the rupiah to lose too much value.
