Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has issued a decree on the discharge of six investigators from the National Police who recently tendered their resignations from the anti-graft commission.

"KPK has issued a decree on the honorable discharge of the six investigators who previously submitted resignations," Priharsa Nugraha of KPK stated here on Friday.

Nugraha said the decree was dated 2 November 2012.

"It will be delivered to the Police Headquarters today or on Monday," he said.

Earlier, six investigators tendered their resignations from the country`s top anti-graft body on Thursday (November 1) and returned to the National Police, their primary institution.

The resignations serve to underline the awkward relations that have developed between the KPK and the police, especially over the handling of a graft scandal allegedly involving police officers.

According to KPK spokesman Johan Budi, in the resignation letters, the six investigators stated that they want to develop their professional career as investigators on the National Police.

"There`s a lot of value and experience that we have gained in the Commission, but this is the time for us to develop professional career as investigators in the National Police," said Johan Budi citing the investigators` statement.

Budi also said the six investigators from the National Police have worked in KPK about four years, and all of them are Police Commissioners, namely Hendi Kurniawan, Rizki Agung Prakoso, Yudhistira Midyahwa, Irfan Rifai, Popon A. Sunggoro, Egy Adrian Zues.

After the resignation of six investigators and the duty period expiration of 20 other investigators in October, the Commission will only have the remaining 62 investigators.

"The lack of investigators will affect the speed of the Commission in investigating corruption cases," Budi expressed.(*)
