Operations and surveillance continue to conduct for the law enforcement particularly the Constitution No. 5 of 1990 to preserve biodiversity. And until now it has accumulated of 955 evidence consisting of 75 types of preserved wildlife or parts of them, including ten preserved Sumatran Tigers, one preserved elephant calf, five honey bears, five leopards, two pieces of dried tiger skin, twelve pieces of wet tiger skin, twenty-eight bird of paradise and others.
The preserved animals evidence were in good condition as many as 554 pieces and stored throughout the UPT Directorate General of PHKA, including thirteen preserved tigers with intact condition, six pieces of dried Sumatran Tiger skin, four pieces of wet tiger skin, three preserved leopards, one preserved Javan rhino, one horn of Java Rhino, three preserved Java hawk-eagles, and 521 preserved mammal, bird, reptile, bivalves, and coral types.
Government treatment of the seized goods such as preserved animals that are still in good condition to be used as a research and conservation education in local UPT and damaged animals will be destroyed entirely, while the alive wildlife will be reintroduced back into the wild.
Indonesia is a country with the third largest wealth of natural resources in the world so it is called as a megabiodiversity country. No less than 515 species of mammals and 511 species of reptiles and 1,531 species of birds are found in Indonesia. Plus, 270 species of amphibians, 2,827 species of Invertebrate and 38 thousand species of plant. It is a huge capital to be managed properly for the welfare of the Indonesian people.
