MEXICO CITY, Nov. 13, 2012 (ANTARA/PRNewswire) -- The Mexico Tourism Board (MTB) has been awarded the Global SABRE Award 2012 in the Travel and Tourism category for the Best Promotional Campaign.

The SABRE awards, organized by The Holmes Report, are the most important competition in the public relations industry, with over 3500 participants from 40 countries. Communications campaigns are awarded for creativity and effectiveness.

The campaign, focused on improving Mexico's position in the media, aims to attract more international tourists to the country. The program was selected above competitors promoting the regions of North America, Latin America, the UK, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia.

2011 was a record year for tourism in Mexico, with over 23.4 million international visitors visiting the country.

The Mexico Tourism Board received the Gold SABRE Award last May in the Corporate Relations and Media category.

The SABRE Awards recognize the best communication campaigns every year, with the work of the Mexico Tourism Board being recognized for its innovative strategy as well as the number of global impressions.
