Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian currency rupiah gained 40 points against the US dollar on Wednesday morning boosted by market expectation of bail out fund to prop up ailing Greek economy.

Rupiah traded at 9,595 to the US dollar in interbank transactions strengthening from 9,635 .

Trust Securities` analyst Reza Priyambada said rupiah rose in value as the market saw the finance minister of the European Union had softened on Greece over its debt installments.

Meanwhile, there was speculation that the US government and Congress agreed to raise taxes but not very high, Reza said.

Monex Investindo Futures` researcher Ariston Tjendra said the rupiah rise was overshadowed by profit taking .

Ariston said US economic data is positive enough to push up dollar and US consumers confidence is growing.

In addition, data on demand for durable goods in the United States is not as weak as predicted, he said.

"US consumers` confidence rose this month to a highest level in almost five years driven by improved level of recruitment," he added.(*)
