Bengkulu (ANTARA News) - The Bengkulu provincial police will soon question witnesses in the alleged embezzlement of more than Rp5 billion in cash at Bengkulu University (Unib).

Under the standard operating procedure, a team of investigators from the provincial police`s detective unit will question the witnesses and collect all piece of evidence to name suspects in the graft case, Bengkulu provincial police spokesman Adj. Snr. Comr. Hery Wiyanto said here on Friday.

Unib Deputy Rector Wachidi said he had reported the alleged embezzlement of non-tax state revenue involving M Firman Ashari to the police on Tuesday.

The whereabouts of M Firman Ashari who was formerly the university`s treasurer is still unknown, he said.

The graft case came to the light in February 2012 when the university`s cash balance had a shortage of billions of rupiahs.
