Drilling of the ML A1 well has reached a depth of 1,550 meters, executive manager of PT Supreme Energi Muaralabuh (PT SEML) Tri Haryo Indrawan Susilo said here on Friday.
"Now testing is being made to determine the capacity of the ML A1 well and the reservoir fluid characteristics,"Tri Haryo said .
The data are needed to determine the economic value of the reserves, he added.
He said drilling of the second well ML B1 is to follow later this month, adding ML A1 and ML B1 are part of six wells to be drilled to see if the reserves are enough to feed a 2x110 megawatt geothermal power plant to be built in that area.
Six to nine months would be needed to complete drilling of all six wells , he said.
The geothermal power project of Liki Pinang Awan Muaralabuh is part of the government`s second program to build mew power plants with a total capacity of 10,000 MW, he said.
Implementation of the first program, also with a total capacity of 10,000 MW is almost completed.
Implementation of the program is carried out by state electricity company PLN.
