On December 17, Indonesian Supreme Court Chief Justice Dr. H. Muhammad Hatta Ali, Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika, and USAID Mission Director Andrew Sisson launched the USAID-funded case tracking system (CTS) version 2.0 at the Denpasar District Court.
CTS will help improve court management and efficiency by documenting court cases nationwide into one integrated online system that the public can use to easily access case information from any general court in Indonesia.
At the launch event attended by more than 100 court staff , journalists, and several Supreme Court and other judges, the Supreme Court Chief Justice strongly urged the more than 300 courts in Indonesia to implement CTS 2.0.
Some100 courts already have implemented version 1.0 at the direction of the Indonesia Director General of the High Courts.
CTS, which is part of the Changes for Justice project, furthers U.S. and Indonesia cooperation to implement democratic reforms for increased transparency and public accountability.
Changes for Justice is a $19 million, four-year project that began in 2010 and includes partnerships with the Indonesian Supreme Court and Attorney General`s Office to strengthen rule of law.
