Manado, N Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - The people of Manado, North Sulawesi appealed to the government to seriously and immediately cope with dengue attacking their city.

A community leader, Zuber, said here on Thursday that cases of dengue have increased 300 percent to 412 this year from 143 cases in 2011.

Dengue had killed six people in Manado, Zuber said.

Meanwhile Mulyono D, another community leader said almost every year dengue attacks Manado and nearby areas leaving a number of people dead.

Mulyono called on the government to be more serious in launching anti dengue campaigns involving the people.(*)
