Karawang (ANTARA News) - Rain triggered floods have inundated thousands of houses in the regency of Subang of West Java over the past three days.

A number of rivers in the district overflowed their banks sending swelling water to a number of the sub-districts including Pamanukan, Blanakan, Legon Kulon, Ciasem, and Sukasari.

"Flooding had hit this village following almost incessant rain in the past three days," Rohman, a Ciasem villager said on Wednesday.

The water was as high as 50 centimeters, Rohman said, adding the villagers were worried as the downpour has continued.

He said the villagers hope the government would help in coping with the floods that have continue to be an annual problem for the local people.

Head of the social aid section of the Subang social affairs office Tito Purwanto said the office has distributed relief aid including rice, instant noodle.(*)
