"We see a lot of people unable to extend their driving licenses due to work."Surabaya (ANTARA News) - The traffic unit of the Surabaya city police provides a "Saturday Night Service" for people wishing to extend their driving licenses while enjoying a Saturday night atmosphere in the city`s Bungkul Park.
"We provide this service for the first time ever on Saturday (Jan 5) and will continue it every Saturday. This service is available from 09.00.a.m to 12.00 p.m.," head of the traffic unit Adj. Snr. Comr. Sabilul Alif said here on Sunday.
The Saturday Night Service is aimed at enabling city dwellers to extend their driving licenses outside the weekdays.
"We see a lot of people unable to extend their driving licenses due to work. By doing so, they can feel relaxed and enjoy the Saturday night and extend their license at once," Alif said.
The applicants only need to show their resident cards (KTP) and expired driving licenses (SIM). The fee on the extension of SIM A is Rp130,000 and SIM C is Rp125,000.
On the first day of the service, a total of 228 applicants came to the police booth to extend their driving licenses, he said.
"We are optimistic that this program can attract more public interest. They can apply for extension of their driving licenses while enjoying the night at Bungkul Park," he said.
One of the local residents, Priyonggo, appreciated the police`s innovation and said that the program was very helpful for motorists in Surabaya. "I hope this program could be held continually".
The Surabaya city police also provides driving license extension during weekdays in some areas such as Royal Plaza, Tambak Rejo Market, and Giant Diponegoro.***3***
