Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Another politician was sentenced to jail for corruption on Thursday.

This time it was Angelina Sondakh, a legislator from the ruling Democratic Party who was sentenced to 4.5 years in jail and fined Rp250 million.

"Angelina Patricia Pinkan Sondakh has been legitimately and convincingly proven guilty of committing corruption repeatedly," chief judge Sudjatmiko said reading the verdict at the Jakarta Corruption Court.

In view of that the court sentenced her to 4 years and six months in jail and fined her Rp250 million or six months more in jail for failing to pay it, he said.

The sentence was lower than the prosecutors` demand which was 12 years in jail and a fine of Rp500 million and compensation worth Rp12.58 billion and US$2.35 million.

In response to the verdict Angie said she would think whether or not to appeal it.
