Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Several locations in Jakarta remained under water on Saturday, including Pluit in North Jakarta where flood waters were reported to be two meters deep.

Other locations still heavily flooded in North Jakarta included Bandengan and Teluk Gong.

Also, Pluit Junction remained impassable, with flood waters standing about 50 centimeters high.

Additionally, residents of Kampung Pulo in Jatinegara Barat, East Jakarta, were being housed in makeshift evacuation centers as flood waters were two meters high.

In Bidara Cina, also in East Jakarta, the water level was reported to be 1.5 to 2.0 meter high.

Many roads in the city were still impassable on Saturday. According to Jakarta police officials, as many as 22 roads were still closed to traffic due to flood waters.

The Jakarta traffic police deputy director, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Wahyono, said roads that remained impassable were in North, West, South Jakarta, East and also Central Jakarta.

The process of repairing the embankment meanwhile continued in Latuharhary Menteng, Central Jakarta, which was damaged by flood waters on Thursday.
