The game on Sunday between the two competitors will be their 13th, with the Malaysian recording seven victories.
"We must not be afraid. In terms of the game, I have strong confidence in my abilities. I have no doubt about it," he remarked with optimism.
Sony proceeded to the final round after beating seeded Japanese player Kenichi Tago in a rubber set 21-12, 19-21, 23-21.
Chong Wei, meanwhile, entered the round after defeating Jan O Jorgensen from Denmark 21-13, 17-21, 21-12. This is Chong Wei`s sixth victory against the Danes in seven meetings.
Indonesian doubles players Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan followed Sony, going into the final round after overpowering Chai Biao-Liu Xialolong from China 21-12, 21-11 in 24 minutes.
In the finals, they will meet Lee Yong Dau-Ko Sung Hyung from South Korea.
When contacted to comment on their prospects, Hendra noted he was not afraid of the world`s sixth-ranked badminton players from South Korea.
"What is important is focus," he said.
Indonesian Vita Marissa in a pairing with Variella Aprilsasi Putri Lejarsar, meanwhile, failed to enter the final round of the women`s doubles event as well as the final round of the mixed doubles event in a pairing with Praveen Jordan.
Vita-Variella surrendered to Chinese players Tian Qing and Bao Yixin 13-21, 17-21.
Vita and Praveen were beaten by Joachim Fischer and Christinna Pedersen in the mixed doubles 21-14, 21-17.
