The chief of the panel of judges handling the appeals case, Artidjo Alkostar, said the Supreme Court had met the prosecution`s demand and sentenced the defendant to seven years in jail.
Nazaruddin was earlier sentenced to four years and ten months in jail for his involvement in the corruption case at the SEA Games Athlete`s Village project in Palembang.
The judges had also increased the fine the defendant had to pay to Rp300 million.
The verdict was handed down on Tuesday by Artidjo Alkotsar as the chief judge and Mohammad Askin and MS Lumme as members of the panel of judges.
In their verdict the judges said the defendant was validly proven guilty of violating the law on corruption.
The Supreme Court also believed that Nazaruddin was not only involved in a bribery case.(*)
