President Yudhoyono reminded all state officials of the importance of prioritizing their service to the people which is more important than their political duties.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has called on ministers and other officials to remain focused on their duties in the current political year of 2013 and ahead of the general elections in 2014.

"2013 and 2014 are special years and can be called as political years in view of the implementation of the legislative and presidential elections in 2014. I think some of us would be involved in double duties of carrying out state and political missions," he said in his opening speech at a national government working meeting at Jakarta Convention Center on Monday.

President Yudhoyono reminded all state officials of the importance of prioritizing their service to the people which is more important than their political duties.

"I hope they would stay focused on their state duties and schedule their political activities well. Serving the people is their main responsibility," he said.

President Yudhoyono also underlined the importance of the meeting which is for building understanding and synergy among government officials.

"We hope this year`s performance will be better than last year`s," he said.

On the occasion he also called on local governments to be responsive towards public and environmental problems.

"All local governments should take fast and precise solutions to problems in their regions," he said.

The first meeting in 2013 was attended by all stakeholders including governors, regents, city mayors, military and police chiefs, cabinet members and other officials. (*)
