"There has not been any deal made. It all came out of a common view towards Indonesia`s future," Wiranto said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The General Chairman of Hanura Party, Wiranto, said here on Monday that there had not been any political deals made with regard to Hary Tanoe`s joining his party.

"There has not been any deal made. It all came out of a common view towards Indonesia`s future," he said.

Wiranto, a former military leader, said he had indeed hoped Hary Tanoe could use his media resources to boost his party`s popularity.

He denied any political transactions behind the media businessman`s joining his party.

He said only upon the spirit of collaboration Hary Tanoe had joined Hanura like other small parties` plan to join the party.

"Hanura is aware a political mission would not be successful without cooperation," he said.

Wiranto admitted that Hary Tanoe`s presence in his party would bring political and media coverage advantages.

"Public perception could be built through media. Political parties that have access to media would have an advantage and Hanura will get it (because of Hary Tanoe)," he said.

He said Hanura would have an advantage because Hary Tanoe is a media boss.

Hary Tanoe joined Hanura after he decided recently to leave the Nasional Demokrat (Nasdem) Party due to differences with that party`s new chairman media businessman Surya Paloh.

Indonesia plans to hold legislative elections in 2014 which will later be followed by a presidential election.

Ten parties have been registered to participate in the elections including the new comer, Nasdem Party.

The Democrat Party won the last general elections in 2009 while Golkar Party finished second and PDIP third. Hanura finished ninth in the elections.(*)
