The BEI index dropped 1.44 points or 0.03 percent to 4,823.24 points with 45 most liquid stocks declining 0.36 point or 0.04 percent to 829.04.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) starting trade this morning with the composite share price index shrinking 1.44 points on profit taking by a number of market players.

The BEI index dropped 1.44 points or 0.03 percent to 4,823.24 points with 45 most liquid stocks declining 0.36 point or 0.04 percent to 829.04.

Profit taking followed a significant increase in the prices of a number of shares earlier , Samuel Sekuritas` analyst Yualdo Yudoprawiro said here on Thursday.

However, the majority markets in Asia, which are in positive area could push up the BEI index, Yualdo said.

Sinarmas Sekuritas` analyst Christandi Rheza Mihardja predicted the BEI index would hover around 4,783-4,850 points.

Regional markets Hang Seng recorded a decline of 0.23 percent in index to 22,725.26 points, Nikkei-225 index rose 0.64 percent to 12,008.62 points and Straits Times gained in index 0.06 percent to 3,293.93 points.(*)
