"Tax is not economic matter alone. Economy should continue to grow. Otherwise, poverty will not be reduced," the president said when returning his SPT annual income tax form at the Finance Ministry office.
On the occasion the president underlined the importance of economic growth in Indonesia amidst global monetary crisis, hitting many countries around the world.
Since tax is a crucial component in state revenue, President Yudhoyono called on tax payers across the country to pay their tax.
The president also asked the authorities to properly manage the taxes and to make sure that there is no tax irregularities.
He also called on tax payers to do their duty, while the tax authorities should shun collusion and corruption.(*)
