Negative thinking and pessimism would not make things better, he said.Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has called on the people to not always think negatively towards the country`s problems.
Negative thinking and pessimism would not make things better, he said when officially starting the development of a new container terminal project, the NewPriok, at Tanjung Priok port here on Friday.
"If we always think negatively, pessimistically we will not go anywhere. For example, if 10 or 20 all with negative thinking and pessimism holding a seminar for days in a dark room it is almost certain the output will be a dark mind, negative thinking and also pessimism. They will be nowhere, remain there." he said.
In view of that, he called for optimism and positive thinking because only with them solutions could be found to problems "we are facing."
"While building a vision, setting the strategy and policy we move and implement our programs until our goals are achieved," he said.
President Yudhoyono said now was the good momentum for the country to continue to grow and develop itself to improve the welfare of its people.
He said Indonesia has strong growth and is stable and also has the potential to continue to develop.
Referring to the results of a study by McKinsey, he said the country`s middle class has grown to 45 to 50 million and before 2030 the number is expected to reach 135 million.
Investment needed by Indonesia right now has reached only US$0.5 trillion but prior to 2030 it would reach US$1.8 trillion, he said.
"It means the room for the country`s national economic growth is wider," he said. (*)
