President Yudhoyono said the discussion had become very interesting following a lot of views from panel members on issues including funding, technology, trade and administration.Nusa Dua, Bali (ANTARA News) - The fourth meeting of the UN High-Level Panel of Eminent Persons agreed on global partnership for new development cooperation after the end of the Millennium Development Goals program.
Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono who co-chaired the meeting with Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf said in a press conference after the meeting here on Wednesday "the global partnership is not only between advanced and developing countries or states and non-states and about poverty alleviation but also for sustainable development."
The meeting was held following the meeting in New York in September 2012 which focused on discussion on global poverty reduction, in London in November in 2012 focusing on individuals and households and in Monrovia in January 2013 on national development blocks.
"We discussed (in Bali) as a whole what has become the main concern (global partnership) based upon evaluation on global cooperation in achieving the MDGS," he said.
President Yudhoyono said the discussion had become very interesting following a lot of views from panel members on issues including funding, technology, trade and administration.
Following the global partnership agreement, he said, the panel could now start formulating document of the meeting for submission to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in May.
"The outcome document will contain agenda visions and also goals with necessary narratives," he said adding the document would be titled "Push 2015 Development Agenda."
President Yudhoyono said before 2015 there would still be a multilateral process to complete the document with those from the open working group and the Rio-20 Summit.
"The three documents would be taken up by the UN for discussion at a multilateral level," he said.
President Yudhoyono hoped before the end of 2015 there would already be a new cooperation framework to replace MDGS which could probably be called "Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)." ***1***
