Nine people had been reported buried in the landslides but three bodies of dead victims were already found in the village of Tanjung Baru, in the sub-district of Warkuk, BNPB spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said.
"Rescue workers assisted by police and military soldiers, are still digging piles of earth looking for the missing bodies," Sutopo said, adding they are working manually as heavy equipment could not be sent to that location on difficult terrain.
Heavy rains have caused flooding and landslides in various parts of the country over the past three months, leaving many people dead and destroying properties including farm lands. (*)
